HISTORY: The 1st Mountain Bike Downhill race took place in Fairfax, California on October 21, 1976, on a fire road now referred to as Repack Road, due to the need to repack the hub brake after each descent. In 1990, the first UCI Mountain Bike Championship was held in Durango, Colorado. From that point on, downhill MTB racing became a global phenomenon.
